Transportation
If possible please try to arrive in Canada in the morning as it makes it easier for us to arrange to get you into your housing. If this is not possible or inconvenient for you then we can pick you up at any arrival time but we may have to have the airport pick up service deliver you to a local hotel for the night. If this happens please call our office the next day when you’re ready and we will have our shuttle come and pick you up from the hotel.
When you have booked your travel arrangements please notify John Davis and include all the particulars of your flight (Airline, date and time of arrival, flight number etc) After claiming your baggage please report to the Ground Transportation Desk. They will have your name and be waiting to take you to our Oshawa location – Canadian Flight Academy. If you are attending Toronto Airways in Markham it is easier to just hire a taxi upon exciting the terminal with your luggage. Please co-ordinate your arrival with the Manager of Flight Operations John Davis.
Our Oshawa facility also provides a student shuttle service three times daily to and from your apartment so transportation is not a worry for you.
Public transportation is readily available at both our locations with pick ups and drop offs right at the airfield.
Enrollment Process
Students who reside outside of Canada please fill out the Enrollment form and return it to us. Upon receiving your form we will prepare and send an acceptance letter, which you will be required to take with you to the Canadian Embassy or Canadian High Commission in your area. For more information on the enrollment process please visit the Canadian Immigration web site at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/index.asp . If you are from India, another good source for information on the visa process can be obtained at this link below:
http://geo.international.gc.ca/asia/new-delhi/site/studyingincanada-en.asp
It may be easier to obtain a loan from a financial institution to show proof of funds for the course. In some instances students have found it difficult to prove where their personal funds came from and were denied a visa.
Please see our course cost spreadsheet which was included in the package we sent you. On this spreadsheet you will find a number of course options to choose from. We have attempted to provide the most popular scenarios for your training. We can customize any course specifically for you. Just ask if you do not see a course that fits your needs. To view the various courses just click on the course tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet. Should you have difficulty or not be able to open the excel spreadsheet please email us and we can provide a .pdf format. Our program is very structured and designed to get your training completed as quickly as possible. Be prepared to work very hard to meet the demanding time table we have set for our international students.
Course Start Dates
Flight training is provided on a One-to-One basis with the exception of ground school. Our professional ground schools run continuously throughout the year. As a result you may arrive anytime to start your training. Upon your arrival you will be assigned an instructor and be flying right away. When the next ground school begins, which will usually be in the space of approximately 2-4 weeks depending on the timing of your arrival, you will be placed on the enrollment list.
After Arrival
Upon arrival you will be assigned to an instructor and will be flying twice daily. You will arrive in the morning for each flight having prepared for it by doing the assigned readings the night before. Upon completion of the morning flight you will be informed of the areas you performed well and the two or three areas where you need improvement. There will usually be more aspects than this that need improving but the areas identified once corrected will make the most significant improvement in your flying. As the training progresses your instructor will focus on improving the more minor discrepancies. You should go over the flight you just performed and visualize yourself making the necessary corrections this will help you avoid making the same mistakes in the afternoon flight. Prior to the afternoon flight you must read the assigned material and be prepared for any questions your instructor may have about the assigned material. After the flight is over the instructor will debrief you as they did after the morning flight and they will assign the homework to prepare you for the following day. It is a very demanding schedule but those students who can keep up the pace will graduate from the program in 8 to 10 months depending on weather constraints and their own personal ability limitations.
Jet Training
We have also just added a Jet Transition course for those students who may wish to differentiate themselves from graduates of normal programs for that up and coming airline position. This program prepares the students for the flying they will encounter in an airline environment. If gives them the training they need to be type rating ready to fly a Jet Transport style aircraft. It further provides extensive training in two crew environments and operational insights into jet aircraft. This program helps bridge the gap between having a CPL Multi-IR and working in the airline industry. After completing this course you are more capable to handle the demands placed upon you in your first co-pilot position. For more detailed information look at the Bridging Course file attached in your email package. This program is optional and the cost is not included in the cost spreadsheet for the normal CPL Multi-IFR program.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact John Davis

Although you do not require the Aviation Medical to enter Canada, you will find it very useful to complete the medical before you arrive if possible.
