- Your official Transport Canada Student Pilot Permit allowing you to fly the airplane solo
- Your Aviation Radio Licence
- Your First Solo Certificate to proudly display at home forever
- Credit towards a significant portion of the Recreational Pilot Permit and the Private Pilot Licence program – all your training hours count if you decide to upgrade to the Rec Permit or Private Pilot Licence
- Your training hours “count” at any other flight school if you have to move away
- The personal satisfaction of stretching yourself, of trying something outside the box, and achieving a thrilling accomplishment
- Eligibility for membership in the Buttonville Flying Club - a special group of people who meet monthly to enjoy their hobby and passion of flying airplanes and socializing around airplanes.
- You meet a congenial group of aspiring pilots like yourself – fellow students you can huddle with over coffee during the ground school break, meet up with before or after your flying lesson, or spread out the maps and plan flying trips together
Note about Ground School
The best way to proceed is to take your flying lessons and your ground school at the same time. No need to finish the entire ground school before you start flying and go solo.
Attend at least the first four Ground School Lectures, including Lecture 4, Radio Communications and Procedures. This class prepares you for the Radio Exam and the PStar exam, required before you go solo. (They’re short and easy, and you will have done a practice exam first.)
(You should plan to complete the Ground School because if you decide to go on, you will need to have attended the entire series.)
And you’ll have no problem going to school again. Because “School” doesn’t mean swotting away at algebra. It means you are discovering the secrets of flying an airplane.
