PROGRAMS AND LICENCES Recreational Permit

This is a flexible and inexpensive way to become the pilot in command of an airplane. You can easily finish it in under a year even if you're working full time. And you can pay as you go.

Imagine taking up a family member or friend to show them the delights of flying! When you complete the Permit you can enjoy the thrill of showing your new pilot skills to a passenger. How about taking someone on a sightseeing flight over cottage country, or for lunch to a nearby airport?

We organize your course so that you can flow smoothly on to the Private Pilot Licence without duplication or hassle. And yes, you can credit all your Rec Permit hours to your Private Pilot Licence.

Notes

Average Cost

The prices above are for the minimum times required by Transport Canada. Realistically, the national average is more like 40 hours of training. Your individual times will vary. For example, people who fly twice a week will make steadier progress with less repetition than people who can only fly once a month.

So a more realistic budget is one that plans for about 40 hours of flying time. You can keep the cost down by spending a lot of solo time in our modestly priced simulator.

Students who are well prepared for their flight lessons will also minimize their training costs. When you start your training ask your Flight Instructor about other ways to minimize your cost.

How to get started on your Recreational Permit

Note: Although you are registering for the Recreational Permit you will still attend the Private Pilot Ground School. This way if you decide to continue on you will not need to go to another ground school.
