Many people ask us when the best time is to start their Private Pilot Ground School. Often they think students must complete the ground school before they start flying. In fact there is no need to complete your Ground School before you start your flying lessons. The ground school is more about theory than flying skills. You will have one-on-one briefings with your Flight Instructor about your flight so don't worry about doing ground school before flying.The truth is you can start your Ground School anytime during your flight training - before, during or after.If your schedule and budget allows you a choice, start your ground school and your formal flying program at the same time.
Here are important reasons for taking this route:
| 1. | You will find it useful if you have been in the simulator and/or the airplane when you start ground school. This way you will be familiar with objects like the airplane instruments and controls when your instructor talks about them in the ground school. So be sure to book an Introductory Flight (Fam Flight) to get started with your flying program. |
| 2. | You need to have 10 hours of flying before you can write the Transport Canada Ground School exam. Don't risk forgetting some of the ground school material while you get those 10 hours in - start flying right away if you can. |
| 3. | Approach your studies with confidence. Our student pass rate for the Transport Canada final exam is over 90%. |

Whatever Private Pilot Ground School schedule you choose, you invest only $299.00 + tax to get started on your flying dream.
Paying the tuition fee (in person, by phone or online) guarantees you a seat in the ground school of your choice.
Your Ground School Flight Kit is available from our Prop Shop for $182.31 + tax. It is chock full of useful aviation items you will need - like your textbook, From the Ground Up, your Flight Training Manual, charts, navigation tools and more. Each ground school consists of 17 three hour lectures.
